If you receive the attached message saying 'Invalid XML character', means there is an invalid character in previous data/results and will not allow you to open or run any further tests.  Below are steps to resolve the issue.  Read through first prior to attempting.  If you have any questions, let the support team know and we will be happy to answer and assist.

  1. Close any open copies of R-controller software.
  2. In C:\R-controller\ , delete the file named .mtwQuattro . This file retains a copy of the last test procedure and data file accessed. If there is a problem with this file, the program will not finish initializing until the file is deleted.
  3. In C:\R-controller\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.ui.workbench\
  4. Delete workbench.xml .If there is a problem with this file, the program will not finish initializing until the file is deleted. A new one will be generated when the program successfully initializes.
  5. After deleting both these files, cycle power to the R-controller box (the black vertical box)
  6. Open R-controller software. When it first starts, the procedure name will say "unnamed". At this point, be sure to select a valid test procedure in the lower right to be your active test procedure under workspace.
  7. Upon exit of a the program a new workbench.xml and . mtwQuattro will be saved to disk.

To avoid in future, try not to use special characters in the name of specimens or names of raw data and results files.
