Confirm All Physical Connections (Most Important)

Before checking software:

  • Ensure the controller is powered on.

  • Confirm the machine is powered on.

  • Verify all cables connections by unseating and reseating between:

    • Controller ↔ Machine

    • Controller ↔ PC (Ethernet)

If the controller is not physically connected to the machine, the software will not function.

Wait for Full Controller to Boot

  • After powering on the controller, wait at least 60 seconds before launching Newton.

The controller requires full boot time before communication is possible.

   Verify Controller Detection in Software

  1. Open Newton.

  2. Log in.

  3. From an offline screen, (Machine Management, Test Management, or Report) click Settings.

  4. Confirm the controller appears in the list.

  5. Select it and click OK.

If it does not appear:

  • Click Refresh.

  • Restart Newton.

  • Proceed to next step not detected.

   Restart Controller and Software

  1. Close Newton completely.

  2. Power off the controller.

  3. Power off the machine

  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.

  5. Power the controller and machine back on.

  6. Wait 60 seconds.

  7. Reopen Newton and check Settings again.

If using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, unplug and reconnect it during this step.

   Check Firewall / Antivirus

A common symptom of blocked communication is a delay (approximately 60 seconds) when going Online.

Ensure:

  • Newton is allowed through Windows Firewall.

  • Antivirus has an exception for Newton.

  • Communication is allowed on the local Ethernet network.

After changes:

  • Close Newton.

  • Reopen it.

  • Verify controller detection again.

   If the Issue Persists

Please provide:

  • Screenshot of the Settings / Hardware Settings screen

  • Screenshot of the Online screen showing the error

  • Any information on recent changes done to the system or computer.

Once received we will review the information and advise on next steps.
