“The software is damaged, or the Configuration file is missing.”

If you receive this error Newton is not loading your machine’s configuration file.

       Locate Your Configuration File

 

Find the file named:

[Machine Serial Number] Newton mc.zip

This file is typically:

  • On the original USB drive provided with your machine
    or

  • A replacement file sent by TestResources

Do not unzip the file.


     Load the Configuration File

  1. Close Newton completely.

  2. Click the Search bar on your Windows taskbar.

  3. Type:

    Newton Configuration

  4. Open the Newton Configuration application.

  5. Click the folder icon.

  6. Browse to your USB drive (or the location of the file provided by TestResources).

  7. Select:

    [Machine Serial Number] Newton mc.zip

  8. Click OK.

  9. Confirm the message:

    “Configuration was successful.”


     Restart Newton

  • Open Newton.

  • Log in.

  • Confirm the error no longer appears.


     If the Error Persists

Please send:

  • A screenshot of the error

  • A screenshot of the Newton Configuration window0

  • The exact name of the .mc.zip file being used

  • Any information on recent changes done to the system or computer.
